Film Festival 2013

On Wednesday morning we went on a bus to Sylvia Park for the Film Festival. I saw 4 schools there, St Patrick’s, Glen Innes, Panmure Bridge and Point England and different other schools. I was excited and enjoyed it. Some of it was funny and the other schools were laughing. When Patrick and Alecia stood up we all started cheering loud. My favourite movie was room 7’s because we all enjoyed it. When it finished we went back to the bus and went to school and I was happy and tired of sitting down. We had a 10 minutes break when we got back to school because it was nearly lunch time.

Kids for kids Rcount

On a lovely, sunny Friday we went on a bus to Mangere for the kids for kids to practice our 20 songs. When we got there we were all excited when we got inside, we could hear the music playing and some of the schools was singing. There were 15 schools there as well as Nathan King, Jackie Clarke, Chris Clarke and Dayna. We were happy to see famous people there. My favourite song was ‘Don't Forget Your Roots’.
It was hot on the stage, we got our morning tea and sat on the seats and ate it and when we had finished we went back on the stage to sing some more songs. Rosalina sang by herself and Tokilupe danced to a song. When we had finished we got in the bus and went back to school, some people had a sleep on the bus.
When we got back to school we got an ice block and had to play on the courts.

Assumption

We celebrate the Assumption because Mary’s body was taken to Heaven, not like us because when we die our soul gets taken up to heaven but not our body. People think that Mary went to sleep and her body went up to Heaven.

Amelia’s baby brother was born and lots of people came to see him in the house. There was Amelia’s dad who had a week off and her grandma and granddad her other nana and cousins and they every one brought him presents and then they made a big fuss of the baby. When they all left the baby was quite cute but he wasn’t always a quiet baby he cried. They didn’t know what was the matter. They tried to feed him but he wasn't hungry, they tried to change his nappy but he still cried. He wanted to sleep and so they put him in his bed and had a cup of tea and rested  he was asleep.

The Rainbow Bird

Long, long ago there were birds that were not colourful, they lived in the trees. They were jealous because the butterflies and the flowers were colourful but not them. They tried to put colour on their skin but it kept falling off because the rain came down.  There was a rainbow, they  looked at it, it was colourful, but something was destroying it. A bird from heaven came and he told them to go with him to save the rainbow and some of them came with him to the rainbow. They saw roaches destroying it and they began to fight . Ssome Birds were falling because they were tired of flying and some of them ate the roaches. The birds won, then the rainbow was new again and the birds went through the rainbow and turned colourful.  After they went back the other birds were jealous because they were colourful. If they had gone too they could of got colourful too.

How is it worshiping god?It is worshiping God by obeying him and praying to God and respecting him.

Why do you pray?
We pray because God loves us and it means we can talk to him and not be lonely.

how do you do it? I obey God by going to church and praying to him in my own way.

Teddy bear description

Today I'm writing  a description of Fuzzy the Bear. Meet Fuzzy the bear, he’s handsome  and he has big ears like an elephant.  He has 2 legs and short arms with a big round face like a ball. His nose is round like a button. He looks like a cute baby and he looks like he’s going to school. He has no family but he has friends like me. I like sleeping  with teddy bears sometimes especially Fuzzy.

Swimming Lessons

Two weeks ago our swimming pool arrived to our school and when the builder finish the swimming pool room 6, 5, 4 and room 3 went to have a swim. When we went inside the pool it was the first group to go inside and it was Misiotei, Petra, Patrick, Victoria, Christopher, Rosalina and Viliami.

After their swim it was the second group to go and when we went inside there it was a little bit cold but warm a little bit. We saw an instructor inside and her name Jillian and on some other days it was Kevin. When Jillian was there she taught us new lessons like how to kick, float, glide, freestyle and
arm circles.

Jillian taught us how to kick our feet and make it to the other side of the pool. When we were learning our arm circles she told us to “to put your arm up to the top like you're touching the sky and put your arm down like a circle then back”. We were versing each other with arm circles.

It was awesome having swimming lessons.

What is a Triathlon?

A Triathlon is a sport that has 3  things, bike, swim and run. You have to swim and then pick a bike and hop on it and go around the flags. The rule is to not ride your bike when you pass the line, if you pass the line riding your bike you were  get a 10 second penalty. Don’t ride your bike in the transition area.

Similes and Metaphors

Similes and Metaphors
A simile is where two things are directly compared because they share a common feature. The word AS or LIKE is used to compare the two words. Eg. As cold AS a dog's nose
A metaphor also compares two things, but it does so more directly WITHOUT using as or like. Eg. The shop was a little gold-mine.
Task One
At the end of the sentence, write in brackets whether the sentence is an example of a metaphor or simile.
Eg. The clouds were fluffy like cotton wool. (SIMILE)

  1. As slippery as an eel. (simile) ✔
  2. Arnie was a man-mountain. (metaphor) ✔
  3. He was a lion in battle.(metaphor) ✔
  4. She is as pretty as a picture.(simile) ✔
  5. The striker was a goal machine. (metaphor) ✔
  6. The torch lit up the room as if the sun had risen early. (sImIle) ✔
